Major Professional Contributions:

Prof. Joseph Mathew has made original contributions to modeling for Large Eddy Simulation (LES). LES is an emerging, advanced CFD tool for engineering design analysis. He provided new understanding of actual mechanism of turbulent entrainment which overturned the accepted view of past several decades. It has spawned fresh interest in understanding turbulent-nonturbulent interfaces. Currently he is developing computational tools for applying LES for applications such as aeroacoustics, supersonic flows, turbomachinery blade aerodynamics..
