Major Professional Contributions:

Prof. Narasimha Murty has carried out pioneering work in the area of Pattern Clustering and applications to classification and other data mining tasks. His work is widely known and cited. He has worked on clustering based on statistics, knowledge-based systems, neural networks, evolutionary algorithms, rough sets and fuzzy sets. Some of his important contributions are functional clustering, labeled clustering, divide and conquer clustering and clustering compressed data. He has originated a scheme based on first order logic for unifying conceptual and conventional clustering algorithms. He has worked on unifying various partitional clustering algorithms using both deterministic and stochastic search techniques.
