Major Professional Contributions:

Prof. Ramanujam Sarathi has pioneered to identify partial discharge (PD) formation in gas insulated substation (GIS), power transformers and in cryogenic power equipment's under AC, DC and with harmonic AC voltages with different total harmonic distortion (THDs), adopting Ultra High Frequency (UHF) technique, in India. He has also developed multi sensor fusion system for identification of the partial discharges (caused by different means) by using UHF and acoustic emission sensors and standardised the results with conventional PD detection process. His modelling studies allowed researchers to understand the dynamics of nano particle formation by wire explosion process.
