Major Professional Contributions:

Prof. Mallik has made fundamental contributions to the analysis and modeling of wireless communication systems. His work on performance evaluation of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems serves as the basis for the design of systems using MIMO technology such as IEEE802.11n WLANs and LTE mobile broadband. His work on characterization of fading channel statistics has resulted in significant applications to mobile channels in scenarios supported by Wi-Fi, EDGE, HSPA, or LTE. His work on generalized selection combining is extremely useful for the design of low-cost high-efficiency handsets, which minimize the number of RF chains and reduce power consumption without compromising performance..
